Resin Driveways
Resin bound aggregate is a popular choice for driveways. It is very low maintenance and doesn’t take long to install. It consists of a scattering of loose aggregates which lie on top of the resin that we apply to the surface of the driveway or patio using a squeegee. We can install the resin and aggregates to existing or new tarmac for pavements, carparks and driveways, giving it the appearance of loose gravel. Our epoxy and polymer resins come in a range of colours. There are natural coloured and dust-free options available to our clients.
Before we apply the resin, we ensure that the base is in the appropriate condition. This is to ensure the longevity of the surface. The base has to be level, have no cracks and have the correct water level in, before sealing any necessary areas. Permeable resin can be advantageous to your property. In addition to it being aesthetically pleasing, it is weather-resistant, environmentally friendly and complies with Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems.
Block Paving
As a popular way of constructing a hardstanding or pavement, block paving is advantageous. The individual blocks can be removed and replaced if necessary, allowing remedial work to be carried out beneath the blocks without causing damage. Popular areas that they are used in are pavements, driveways and road surfaces. Also, the bricks are usually either made of clay or concrete. The concrete bricks are known for being porous, and they set independently compared to clay bricks which need to be heated in order for them to set.

Tarmac Driveways
Having tarmac installed is an effective way of preventing mud and puddles from gathering on your driveway. As a durable, maintenance-free material for your driveway, adding tarmac can be a good way to add value to your home and improve the aesthetics.
Offering bespoke designs, we can provide a wide range of colours and finishes that are always durable, flexible. Additionally, these do not allow weeds to grow through. We can also apply tarmac to roads as well as driveways. This allows them to take advantages of all the benefits associated with tarmac. These include durability, value for money and the surface being easily repairable if scratched. When the tarmac cools down, all of the particles stick together in a very strong bound. This makes the surface very resilient, allowing it to carry a heavy traffic load. That is important for roads and driveways that often have cars on them.
Flagstone Driveways
Flagstone is an increasingly popular material for driveways and comes in the form of rectangular shaped blocks of compressed concrete. Sometimes referred to as slabs, flagstones come in a wide range of textures. These include pimples, smooth ground, shot blast and granite. We take care of the whole installation process, including the bedding and jointing.
Flagstones can be a good choice to make. They are quick to install and are very simple yet effective. However, you must regularly maintain your driveway by draining it to a nearby gully. We apply the large flagstones individually. Although we apply the smaller ones are put onto a screeded bed before being consolidated with a vibrating plate compactor.
Patios
Here at S & B Smallman Contractors we specialise in installing patios to homes. This is to add value to your home and personalise your outdoor living space. Our patios are affordable, fast to install and require low maintenance as they are versatile and highly durable. You can choose brick, stamped concrete or natural stone for your patio. Furthermore, we can adapt the stone into your required shape. We have a wide range of design options available, and you can choose from exposed aggravate, engraving and stencilling, allowing you to personalise your garden.
Although we specialise in installing tarmac roads, concrete driveways and paving, we can also install a wide range of fencing including trellis, wooden, timber and panels. Our fencing can provide you with privacy, or you can choose wire fencing for complete visibility.
